The Process of Being

“_______hood” is an exhibition focused on the concept of “Rite of Passage”. Each artist share a perspective of their experience, through their work, of coming to an identity and adjusting. Every artist takes a unique approach to this, as some question, others challenge, and some simply re-define the boundaries, process, and standards of “What is it to be… [Man, Woman, Adult, Child, Rebel, Authority, etc.]

About the Artists and Curator

The exhibition will be hosted by The Carrack Gallery of Modern Art in Durham, North Carolina. The following artists approach identity in their own different, way. Each name will give more insight.

The Carrack Modern Art is an organization and gallery space which offers space for artists, curators, and artistic producers. At the beginning of the year, they do a special call to artists and curators to submit proposals for exhibitions. One important detail to mention about the Carrack is that is takes 0% commission. Artists keep 100% of the profits from artworks sold. The organization itself receives funding from the local communities and art supporters from Durham, North Carolina.
